In juni 1985 schreef Alexey Pajitnov Tetris op een Electronica 60-computer toen hij op technische universiteit in Moskou werkte. Vadim Gerasimov maakte daarna een versie voor de IBM-pc. Deze versie werd al snel verspreid door de universiteit. Via de contacten op de universiteit kwam het spel terecht in Hongarije. Daar kwam het onder ogen van een Brits softwarebedrijf Andromeda. De eigenaar van het bedrijf probeerde contact te zoeken met Alexey Pajitnov. Deze had intussen de rechten gegeven aan het softwarebedrijf Spectrum Holobyte. Omdat Andromeda de rechten niet van Alexey kon krijgen kochten ze de rechten op van een Hongaarse programmeur die een kloon had gemaakt. Uiteindelijk is deze rechtenzaak tot een schikking gekomen: Spectrum Holobyte had het recht om IBM-PC-versies van Tetris te verkopen, Andromeda mocht versies maken voor andere thuiscomputers.

Although at first glance this game might look just like another Tetris clone, it is not. 
As a matter of fact, it is the original! 
Alexei Pajitnov, the inventor of Tetris as we know it today returns years after the original was first published and brings us a better, more feature rich version.

You can choose between single player, cooperative, competitive, dual pit, and even head to head mode that allows you to play over the network.

The moment you start the game you will see a background that represents a historic Russian character or a historic Russian building. Each of these backgrounds are like a piece of art and each level of the game has its own. The music has Russian roots as well.

There is a wide range of options at your disposal using which you can fine tune the way that the blocks fall down, the available game time, speed etc Â… So, if you are one of the Tetris fans or someone that enjoys classic games, this fantastic game should not be missed!
