U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens doet zijn werk op de manier zoals ze het in de 19e eeuw doen.
 Dit wordt hem niet in dank afgenomen, niet door de criminelen, maar ook niet door zijn bazen.
Na een conflict wordt hij overgeplaatst naar het stadje waar hij is opgegroeid.
