Looptopia (Hi-Res)

These fanmixes have been around for ages, this is however the latest edition in
lossless flac.

As with discs of this nature it's purely down to your own personal taste as to
whether the mixes are enjoyable or not - it's not in dispute that the quality of
the mixing is impressive. Terming this as a "remix" disc is stretching the truth
a little as the majority of tracks on here (6 of the 9 not including the intro)
are fan-made extended versions which are very sympathetic to the released
versions. The disc opens with a looped intro borrowing from 'Pope' lasting
around 30 seconds. A 13 minute '17 Days' follows and includes snippets from both
'Orgasm' and a guitar riff from 'Bambi'. 'Lady Cab Driver' is mainly
instrumental (as are most on this release) and is one of the shorter tracks
lasting 7 minutes. A short 1:30 segue titled "Cynthia's Quake' follows and is
basically an instrumental mash-up of 'Housequake', 'Starfish And Coffee' and
'Nasty Girl' - short but effective and one of the highlights of the release.
Unfortunately the remainder of the tracks are mainly instrumental, extended,
looped and don't really appeal to my taste at all. 'Anotherloverholenyodub'
includes 'Alexa De Paris' towards the end as it fades out, but this is the only
real point worthy of note as the mix itself borrows heavily from the released
12" extended version. The closing 'A Love Bizarre' is a repetitive mix and
lasting just short of 20 minutes is far, far too lengthy and serves only to fill
up the disc. I can see the enjoyment and the appeal of this release, however to
me it is simply far too instrumental and there isn't anything here which holds
my interest.
